4/16/24 - Roger Bocek recently has been
in touch with Bill Kazort, a shipmate, a member of the Mullinnix
Association and dear friend. We first met in 1966 when we both were assigned to
the USS Mullinnix A/S Div.. Less than a week ago he contacted me and told
me his wife Sharon (of 55 years) had surgery to remove her Thyroid.
The operation came out fine but during recovery she suffered a severe stroke
that affected the left side of her brain. She passed away
Saturday night at approximately 9:15PM. Once I get more information I will pass
that along. Please keep Bill and family in your prayers. Contact Roger
for more information on how to get in touch with Bill.
3/25/24 - Steve Hanyok informed us our USS Mullinnix
shipmate Thomas Frank
Hoddinott, FTGSN died on 12 MARCH 2020. I served with him during
the 1969 WestPac cruise and we were friends. He was an outstanding
shipmate; I don't know when he was discharged. He was also
in the 1970 Med Cruise as a FTG3 and served as editor and chief photographer
of the cruise book. In the 1972 WestPac cruise book he is listed as FTG2 as a
member of the crew.

Shipmate Donald Spencer Harris passed away. He lost his fight with colon cancer
on Sep 28th at 2100. He was surrounded by family at his home under Hospice Care. Mr. Harris, the best husband and
father you could ever be blessed to have. He was a SK3 and served on the Mux
during the Cuban missile crisis naval blockade.
I only recently became aware of his service on the
Mullinnix. I was reviewing your
web page and read of your interest of the passing of your fellow shipmates. He
was so very honored to have served in the Navy and the bond he always felt for
his peers. This was a very difficult time for him as I am certain it was for
all of you. He was prone to tear-up when asked to
discuss those times.
His funeral was held
at First Baptist Church of Jackson, MS at 1130 on Tuesday the 2nd of Oct. V/R,
